Careplay aims to intervene and encourage real somatic time, through play, between parent/guardian/caregiver and child.
The goal of the project is to create an adaptable system that can grow and create an understanding of how technology shapes our futures through our children. Today, children are born into technology; and while we still haven’t been able to understand it’s full impact, most of us are well aware of its convenience but less about its costs. Recent research suggests that our biological capacity to connect with others is being compromised by the time we spend on our devices. We would like to understand that compromise and create within its framework a point of intervention to encourage parent/guardian/caregiver to be conscious about the impact of technology on our capacity for humanity. Careplay hopes to establish programs, which encourage people to utilize existing technology to develop stronger human bonds that nurture empathy within the next generation. The programs should thus encourage healthier child development in our evolving technological world.
