2012 Projects
Arbor Day at The New School
Leila Mougoui Bakhtiari

The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit conservation and education organization that is dedicated to planting trees. They have offered to give the Urban Forestry Club free trees this spring to be planted in The New School campus for Earth Day. This project aims to get The New School university recognized as a Tree Campus USA and expand the green grounds of the school. Being an urban campus with no actual grounds to plant the trees in, we want to buy planters to plant these donated trees in the schools dorms and buildings. With this project happening in Spring 2012 not only The New School will be recognized as the first urban campus to become a tree campus USA, but also it will promote and raise awareness of the importance of  trees and community stewardship to conserve the environment and it will create new opportunities for students to be environmentally active.
