Last Fall, I was inspired by the Occupy Wall Street protests here in New York City. These protests were revolutionary in many ways, but they lost their magic when no real alternatives were conceived. Since then, I have found an intriguing alternative to pure capitalism in the form of collaborative economics. This refers to worker owned organizations that value cooperation, ecological sustainability and social justice. These include community supported agriculture, credit unions, housing coops, and transportation solutions among many others. I would like to execute a photo essay about these collaborative alternatives to traditional for profit companies across the country.
