A lack of transparency in the quality of housing has contributed to exploitation and an unfair balance of power between landlords and renters in New York City, arguably the most desirable real estate in the world, but by creating a crowdsourced platform for housing ala Yelp, renters can finally wield influence on the rental market in a way that controls market perception, grants negotiating power, and holds landlords accountable for quality of living.
